Generous gift from Rose White of Lakin will finance technological upgrades for enhanced patient monitoring

 LAKIN, Kan. (December 21, 2020) — Kearny County Hospital (KCH) is honored to announce a donation of $130,000 from Rose White, a longtime supporter and valued member of the Lakin community.

White’s generous gift will fund an upgraded patient monitoring system, enabling continuous visual monitoring of every patient in the hospital from one centralized nurses’ station. This technological innovation allows the hospital to maximize staffing, quickly access important data, and easily connect with all patients.

“As the grateful beneficiary of Rose White’s generosity, Kearny County Hospital offers our deep and sincere appreciation for her support,” CEO David Hofmeister said. “This state-of-the-art technology further enhances our ability to provide outstanding care and service to our patients. Rose’s gift is a testament to how special she is and how much she cares about our hospital and the community we serve. To us, she is a true hero.”

White has donated more than $255,000 to Kearny County Hospital, including $125,000 in 2018 to acquire ultrasound equipment, which allowed KCH to add a technician to offer screenings 40 hours a week. In 2019, White also funded an architectural report to help determine how the hospital could expand its mission of quality, compassionate healthcare services for the people of Lakin and surrounding areas.

“I want to see some good done with what I have. I don’t want a lot of money when I am gone. I am honored to give where I feel I can help the most people,” White said. “It’s a true privilege to support the wonderful staff of Kearny County Hospital and their impact in our community in whatever way I can.”

White has lived in Lakin since 1946 and has spent many years serving the community. In addition to teaching cooking in the local 4H chapter for 16 years, she is an active member of her church and was named Kansas Master Homemaker in 1994 for her community and church work. She also is a member of the Philanthropic Educational Organization, which promotes and funds educational opportunities for the advancement of women.
