Being Your Community Hospital – and What That Means to Us

We take pride in our tight-knit local communities. Our mission to provide quality, compassionate healthcare enriches the lives of our families, friends, and neighbors, creating a healthier future for everyone. While healthcare is what we do, caring for people is who we are, and we accomplish that in a variety of ways.

For example, healthier families start with healthy moms and babies, this is why we are dedicated to high-quality women’s health, including OBGYN/maternal care. Our welcoming Special Blessings Family Birth Center is more than a great place to have your baby, it’s also your source for birthing and breastfeeding classes, online resources, and more.

We also know how important it is to support growth and well-being for all ages in our communities, so we engage often to help ensure a bright and healthy future for everyone:

  • Community Baby Shower: Offering free education to pregnant women and their support teams about birth, safe sleeping, breastfeeding, and much more.
  • Promoting Lifelong Health: To support healthy living and reduce the risk of preventable illnesses, we provide valuable services like sports physicals for student-athletes, as well as flu vaccines and other vaccinations.
  • Encouraging Physical Activity: We are co-developing a Physical Activity Rx program in partnership with local athletic and health groups.
  • Fostering Multi-Generational Connections & Creativity: Through our local school partnerships, we regularly welcome elementary students to High Plains Retirement Village to participate in Arts & Crafts and Reading Sessions with our Assisted Living and Long-Term Care This collaboration enriches the lives of youths and seniors alike. They have even decorated light covers for our Emergency Room, Radiology/Ultrasound and Lab rooms to help inspire patients and put them at ease. And, we give special thanks to the elementary students for collecting and donating books for children receiving emergency care at our hospital.
  • Building the Next Generation of Healthcare Providers and Teams: For older students considering future career paths, we offer job shadowing, internships, and clinical rotation opportunities. Through local colleges and schools, we provide training for certified nursing assistants, medical assistants, lab technicians, maintenance technicians, human resources, and more.
  • Helping Those In Need Get the Care They Deserve: We have a social services program to help increase care coordination for those who need it.
  • Supporting a Healthy Workforce in our Region: As a large employer in Kearny County, we know firsthand how important it is for all businesses and industries to have a healthy, thriving workforce. We offer expert healthcare for work-related injuries, focusing on safe return to work and helping to prevent re-injury.

At Kearny County Hospital, we see ourselves as much more than a hospital, and we hope every member of our community sees us that way, too. Through collaboration, education, and a deep sense of caring that is woven into the very fabric of who we are, we are proud to lead the way to better health and greater well-being for everyone.
